Forgive in 5 Venues - The Questions

Whenever I think I have no one or nothing to forgive, I run down this list as a 'quick check.' I thought you could use it too.

There are 5 vital venues of life:
  • Self
  • Home
  • Relationships
  • Work/business
  • Community/Place of Worship (POW)
Any area of interest or human concern can fit into these 5 venues.

Self:

First I ask myself, when I think there's nothing to forgive - my hint usually is a reduction in positive, loving sensations or a general sense of being "stuck"...

  • Is there something I need to forgive myself for?
  • Has something happened recently that slipped by, into my subconscious that I am feeling ashamed or guilty about?
  • Is there anything going on with my health - physical, mental, emotional that could be contributing to my funk?
Home:

  • Is there someone in my home environment - includes immediate neighbors, who I have offended in any way? Or, who has offended me?
  • Am I upset with my children or partner about any domestic issue?
  • Am I annoyed about anything that happened at my home?

Relationships:

  • As I review my key relationships, does anything stand out as worrisome?
  • Are there disappointments or anger from the past - recent or not, that's lingering?
  • Who am I mad it??
  • How's my relationship to God? (key question for me)

Work/Business:

  • Are there people I'm working with (or, working for) that's annoying me?
  • Are my customers, vendors or prospects people I genuinely like?
  • Am I annoyed with my competition? (can you say jealousy?)
  • Am I annoyed with my competition for good reason?
  • Are there any financial issues - personal or business that I blame myself for?

Community/POW:

  • Are there people  or organizations in my community I'm upset with? - like schools, hospitals, stores, community services, municipal services, etc...
  • Am I upset with folks at church? I mean, aren't they supposed to know better?!
This is my check list.   I find it's easy to assume, "I have nothing to forgive or release!"  People find false solace in that refrain.   It seems, we'd rather be vaguely upset and remain stuck than diligently probing to peel back to the real  answers.

Answer these questions honestly and you will find the truth can set you free.  But will you let it?

Wishing you peace and joy,
